Summary
Providing 1 to 1 individual, multisensory, structured, sequential, cumulative cognitive, diagnostic and prescriptive, specialized Orton-Gillingham lessons.
My staff of OG Instruction teachers have completed their 64 hours of coursework in the Associate Level of the Orton-Gillingham Academy and are completing their practicum, providing instruction under the guidance of Laurie D. Leason, Accredited Training Fellow, and her OG Instruction teachers.
Lessons run a minimum of 2 lessons per week or up to 5 times per week. Please note that the more frequent the lessons are, the greater the impact on the student’s learning. These OG lessons are individually designed for the needs of your child.
This instruction includes remediation with your child’s phoneme isolation, the correct pronunciation of phonemes, blending real and nonsense words, segmenting real and nonsense words, phonological awareness, phonological memory, short-term working memory, fluency, phrasing skills, punctuation, decoding strategies, word attack, accuracy, rate, processing speed, working memory speed, phoneme-grapheme correspondence, multiple spellings, short vowel rules, digraphs, blending drills, SOS spelling, writing words, phrases, and sentences, vocabulary, prefixes, bases, suffixes, syllable types, syllable division, history of language, the structure of language, script and cursive writing, advanced writing, grammar, and Structured Word Inquiry.
With our OG Instruction, students experience automaticity of skills, confidence, positive self-esteem, engagement in lessons, reduction of compensation strategies, a desire to read and understand the language, someone understanding them, someone finally knows how to help them, and reading at home with their family, and to develop a love of reading.
OG Math, Executive Functioning, and Study Skills lessons are also available, at our OG Instruction Learning Centre, at an arranged location, or via Zoom.

OG Instruction
Our OG Instructors have received 64 hours of training at the Associate Level from the Orton-Gillingham Academy, as well as at least 100 hours of practicum under the guidance of Laurie D. Leason, Accredited Training Fellow.
Our OG Instructors are highly trained. We do not follow a program or a book. We follow what your child needs; diagnosing and prescribing what instruction your child needs every lesson. All of our teachers have been working with dyslexic students for years, some have dyslexic children of our own. We have personal as well as professional experience.
We are the only Orton-Gillingham Academy Certified Teachers in Western New York and the surrounding areas. This training makes all the difference in the world.
Assessments & Screening:
Laurie D. Leason will provide individualized language-based assessments (formal and informal) and screenings. These are completed upon request.
These assessments and screenings include various language-based assessments, a written detailed report and a meeting to discuss the results.
Consulting:
Laurie D. Leason works directly with schools, districts, or organizations worldwide to adopt the Orton-Gillingham Academy to the needs of that particular location.
Please contact me to request a consultation or presentation regarding the OG approach and dyslexia information.
